Once upon a time there was no Skye Bridge, and in fact it is a fairly recent connection between Kyleakin on Skye to Kyle of Lochalsh on the mainland. The bridge is both elegant and strong. At first it was a Toll Bridge but as of December 2004, tolls have been removed from the bridge.
